Crockpot Chicken Pot Pie Recipe – Frugal Recipes
Here is an absolutely delicious frugal recipe for Crockpot Chicken Pot Pie. It’s very easy to make, plus light on the budget.
4 carrots, sliced into 1-inch pieces
1 small onion, chopped
1/4 cup flour
1 1/2 lbs chicken breasts, boneless and skinless
1/2 teaspoon poultry seasoning
salt and black pepper to taste
1 cup of chicken broth
6 biscuits, split open
1/2 cup heavy cream
1 bag frozen green peas (optional)
Combine the carrots, optional green peas, onion, and flour and put into a slow cooker. Add the chicken on top and season with the poultry seasoning, 1 teaspoon of salt (or to taste), and ¼ teaspoon of black pepper (or to taste). Next, add the chicken broth to the Crockpot.
Cover and cook the hicken Pot Pie for 5 to 6 hours on LOW or 2 1⁄2 to 3 hours on HIGH – until the chicken and vegetables are tender.
Approximately 30 minutes before the meal is ready to eat, prepare and bake the biscuits.
While the biscuits are baking, remove the chicken from the slow cooker and shred into bite size pieces, then return the chicken to the slow cooker. Then add the cream and stir to combine all of the ingredients well.
Replace the cover and let the meal continue to cook until the biscuits are done.
To serve, place the bottoms of the biscuits on a plate or in a bowl, add the chicken pot pie mixture from the slow cooker, then add the biscuit top over the mixture, and serve.

Fruit flies are one of the not so fun parts of life that a lot of us seem to aquire from time to time. Having fruit flies in the kitchen can not only get on your nerves, it can make you downright upset when you’re trying to get rid of them and they just don’t seem to want to go.
If you are like so many other households who get invaded by fruit flies and you are wondering how to get rid of fruit flies, we good new – there’s an easy and frugal solution for you to rid your home of fruit flies. You simply build fruit fly traps. Don’t worry, it’s simple and easy to make fruit fly traps – and they do work.
What you need:
What to do:
Take the jars or plastic bowls and remove the lids. Be sure to use only something you plan on throwing away. You won’t need the lids at all, so you can toss them if you don’t need them for somethng else. Next, slice and mush up the banana. I use the peeling also, but you don’t have to. If you use the peeling, slice it up into small pieces.
Take a bit of the banana and divide it up into the jars or plastic bowls. You will probably want to use about four containers. Kind of smear it around a bit to get the banana all over the container. This spread the banana smell and seems to attract the fruit flies more, in my experience.
Now you will want to tear off a small bit of plastic wrap and cover the opening of the container. Pull it tight and place a rubber band around the neck to hold the plastic wrap firmly tight and in place.
Last, use a toothpick or knife point to poke about five tiny holes into the plastic film on the top opening of the container. Be sure not to make the holes large or the fruit flies will be able to get back out of the fruit fly trap.
Set the containers around the sink and on counters in the kitchen. After about one day, maybe two, they will be full of the fruit flies and you can carefully dispose of the container.
How this works:
The banana in the contaner attacts the fruit flies and they enter the container thru the tiny holes in the top of the plastic film that is coverering the container. Once inside, the cannot get back out. After a day or two, the containers will hold the fruit flies and they can be removed carefully from the home.
I’ve heard of people who have said they have the same result using apple cider, and you might wish to use that instead of a banana. For me personally, I’ve only had good results using the method I’ve shared here.
